I've officially made it to the 18 week mark..."almost halfway there," I keep telling myself. I feel like I've been telling myself that forever though. Since my last post we found out we're having a boy. But my doctor told our next door neighbors they were having a boy and they had a girl. He also seemed to be having a difficult time deciding whether our baby indeed looked like a boy. So, I think I'll feel more confident at my 21 week appointment and see the ultrasound again. But, I think we are having a boy. That seems right to me.
Now that I have been told we're having a boy and keep being reassured that everything is going great, I think reality is really sinking in. I'm going to have a baby. I'm starting to get pretty excited, and then I feel like it's so far away! I can't wait 5 more months! I just want this baby to be born already! But, I do want him to be healthy and no complications, so I probably shouldn't say that out loud.
Also since my last post, Tyler and I went on our "babymoon" to Las Vegas. It wasn't that great. I guess we should have waited until I was further along, but I was starting to feel pretty good, so we went. The drive up was fine. It snowed as we were driving through the mountains so that was kinda fun. We got to the JW Marriott and checked in to a really nice room with a really pretty view of the city and the mountains. Then we went to the buffet next to the casino...note to self - never eat at a casino all-you-can-eat buffet ever again! It was so gross. Then we went back to our room and I was sick the rest of our stay. And I got really bad pain in my legs from my sciatic nerve that refused to go away. It got so bad Tyler had to carry me from the bathroom to the bed because I couldn't put any weight on my leg without collapsing on the floor. I stayed in bed/the bathroom the rest of our stay and Tyler only left to workout in the gym or to purchase food. By the time our vacation was over I was just so excited to be home, but I had no desire to make the drive. I was tempted to buy a plane ticket so the travel time wouldn't be so bad. But we made it home with me driving most of the way so I wouldn't get car sick. And guess what? The very next day I felt fine. That's right, my nerve pain was gone, my morning sickness was alleviated and I felt pretty good--still not great, but a whole lot better than I did in Vegas.
This last weekend was General Conference. It was pretty nice to be able to stay in my comfy pj's (I hate wearing real clothes since becoming pregnant) and watch conference in our living room. Sunday morning I was feeling pretty good, so we made homemade cinnamon rolls that were delicious. I actually just heated one up and had it for breakfast and it was still super gooey and yummy. Tyler was very impressed with my cooking skills, but since I haven't really cooked anything for the past 4 months that may not be saying much. Tyler also bought me some daisies which made me really happy and I smile every time I look at them. Tyler's such a good husband.
I'm entering a drawing to be on Ellen's Mother's Day show. You have to submit a picture of your pregnant self, so I need to take a picture. I'll post it next time I get on here. Hopefully I'll get to be on the show, but with my luck, I'll probably miss the deadline because I don't have a picture of myself...I need to get on that!
