Crafting

The Young Women's Annual Spaghetti Dinner is this Saturday night. I volunteered to make banners to decorate the cake auction table and the dessert table.

Obviously this is the cake table banner.
The dessert table is the same but says "Decadent Desserts."
Our next door neighbor Emily Christensen has a Silhouette, so she helped me cut out the letters so I didn't have to do it by hand like my coasters I made for Christmas presents last year. I'm pretty sure my fingers still have Exacto knife indentations from that project! Watching the Silhouette in action really made me want one...it's just so cool and fast!
But, I'm excited with how the banners turned out! It was fun to create something. Although Tyler was a little confused why we have a craft table in the spare room and I was doing my crafting on the kitchen table...I'm going to have to get more lighting in that room. It's just no fun crafting in the dark!
Now that I've made the banners I'm getting excited to make something new. I'm thinking about making a baby crib dust ruffle from this tutorial I found on Emily Schildhouse's blog "EmmmyLizzzy"

I am a little worried that ruffles may be too girly, even in boyish colors. She used these shades of green for her baby girl's nursery...so maybe that tells me right there that ruffles just make it girly? What do you think?
Other interesting news - I recently realized that two of my original Freshman roommates are also pregnant. So  that makes 3 of us at the same time. Crazy! Chrissy is due with a baby boy fairly soon and Alison is due with her second about two months after me. I think Alison and Jared are hoping for a boy, so maybe all three of us will have boys! Oh and Miriam, one of Alison and my Junior year roommates is also pregnant with her second. I think she's due one month after me. I think that's pretty odd, but with the number of roommates I had over four years at BYU, maybe the chances weren't really that far out there that we'd all be pregnant at the same time.
